Hospitals and pounds were no doubt the topics tugging at the heartstrings of those assembled for Tuesday’s Clinton City Council meeting, but there were other items covered as well.

Mothers do so much for their kids, and every year for one day they are given special thanks they deserve. The Clinton Daily News took the time recently to speak to a few moms in the community.

Chuy Torres, the organizer of the Cinco De Mayo Parade and the events for the last four years that will be held Friday and Saturday, said there will be at least 30 participants in tomorrow’s parade.

Clinton High School has announced the recipients of January’s Red Tornado Boy and Girl Award, an honor bestowed upon senior students who exemplify school spirit and an academic work ethic. Every month a ballot is sent out by Principal Michelle Sorter on which teachers vote for who they believe best exhibits the values of CHS. For the month of January Anelyz Martinez and Cole Bailey were selected for the honor.
