KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) — A former New York state trooper accused of ramming his vehicle into an SUV during a high-speed chase leading to the death of an 11-yearold girl was convicted of manslaughter Friday at his second trial.

Public and environmental safety was at the forefront of discussion during Monday’s meeting of the Custer County commissioners. Custer County Emergency Management Director Hardy Sperle presented forms for approval related to the saferoom grant, county officials discussed fire danger, and different aspects of drought and high winds were considered in relation to how they impact roadways and signage through the county.
