Rock garden

Washita Chapter NSDAR honorary regent Carol Ann Batterton is working on an ongoing rock garden project to be placed in veteran clinics. The rocks serve as a thank you to the veterans for their service. Batterton was presented rocks painted by the Arapaho-Butler High School art class taught by Angela Dupree. The Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board has recently granted funding to the South Western Oklahoma Development Authority (SWODA). According to a press release from SWODA, the funds are meant “to be used to decrease the impact of the current opioid crisis. SWODA hopes to increase resources and services that save lives and decrease or prevent illicit opioid use.”

To cap off the first semester of school Tracy McCullough, left, was named the 2024-24 Support Staff Employee of the Year and Rhett Blundell was chosen as Teacher of the Year.

Lucy Moreno serves food to members of the community in a recent Celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Moreno and her family organized the meal as a sign of gratitude after recovering from COVID.

The Clinton Chamber of Commerce receives 15% of the tax revenue generated through hotel and motel stays in Clinton. The money is then used in a grant fund to support activities in Clinton providing an entity is approved by the chamber and the Clinton City Council.

As previously reported by the Clinton Daily News, the Clinton Police Department recently gave out its yearly awards during a Christmas party.
