Fresh off the citizens voting Tuesday to approve the sale of Clinton Regional Hospital, hospital CEO Len Lacefield is looking toward the future and what the hospital can grow to encompass going forward.

The month of January is School Board Appreciation Month, and the Clinton Public Schools Board of Education, with two new members, have a lot on their plate. The Clinton Daily News asked each board member what they like about serving on the board.

Following Tuesday’s Special Election, the sale of Clinton Regional Hospital (CRH) to Rural Healthcare Solutions (RHS) appears to be moving forward. The election called for a simple majority decision, and Clinton voters supported the sale of the hospital in a big way.

100 years of service

Melodie Fawver with Moore Cleaners works the steam press Wednesday morning. According to Moore, the building and operation at 418 Frisco Ave. has been there since at least 1957 when her father worked there, but the business has been in operation for 100 years. The annual Business Honor Roll is located on pages 5-9 in today’s paper.

No mixed signals

The regular meeting of the Clinton Economic Development Authority (CEDA), held Tuesday afternoon, consisted mostly of an executive session closed to the public and the press.

Alicia Smith, 35, of Clinton, was arrested Dec. 13 on the charges of assault and battery upon a police officer and obstructing an officer.

After nearly an hour of executive session Monday night, the Clinton School Board extended the contract of its superintendent.
