2 Homicide leads to 2 dead

A manhunt ensued when one man died due to gunshot wounds in his apartment in early March. The suspected killer was found by law enforcement along Fourth Street/U.S. Highway 183 and gunplay entered into the equation again. This time it was the suspected killer losing his life.

For the fourth straight year, the hospital is No.1 and could have generated a Top 10 all by itself. Two elections, failure to change hands, multiple loans from the City of Clinton, lawsuits, and obtaining REH status all combine to make this the top topic once again. Will there be a five-peat?

In a continuance from its previous meeting, the Clinton Economic Development Authority met Tuesday afternoon to discuss more about what the entity is seeking in fulfilling the position of economic development director. Accountability appeared to be a common denominator.

Fire strikes laundromat

While the temperature outside has been getting cooler each day, the Clinton Fire Department was having to beat the heat Tuesday responding to two structure fires within 24 hours, one at the Wash House Laundromat at 610 S. 10th St. in the afternoon and the other at a home at 520 N. First St. late in the evening. No injuries were reported at either fire.

Dues for 2025 property taxes are almost here. According to Custer County Treasurer Janet Roulet, the first half is due today, as long as the total is more than $25. If the total is less than or equal to $25, the entire sum is due today. If the total is more than $25, property owners can pay the first half today and the second half will be due March 31, 2026.

With Christmas being a time for people to join together and enjoy the season with family, the Custer County 4-H Club held its annual countywide “Santa’s Workshop” event in Weatherford earlier this month to bring Christmas cheer to the communities of Custer County.

Clinton’s H.O.S.T. Ministries had a festive success last week, after the church held its annual community Christmas meal for the Clinton community members looking for food and company this holiday season, with roughly 120 people joining the church last Friday.
