What better way to open up the state tournament for the No. 9 Arapaho-Butler boys’ basketball team (25-3 overall), than to face No. 6 Hydro- Eakly (26-4) in a western Oklahoma rivalry matchup at 3:30 p.m. today at ‘The Big House’ in OKC.

Clinton closes year at state tourney

OKLAHOMA CITY – Three of Clinton wrestling’s four state qualifiers earned wins at the state tournament Friday in Jim Norick Arena and closed out the year with a positive to build on for next season or at the next level.

KINGFISHER – Not much went the way of the No. 16 Clinton boys’ basketball team (16-10 overall) in Saturday night’s regional finals game, and No. 1 Kingfisher (25-0) piled it on as the game progressed, handing the Reds a 91-40 loss.

Indians claim state spot with win over defending champs

CHICKASHA – It appeared the No. 9 Arapaho- Butler boys’ basketball team (25-3 overall) was going to have to regroup and try for its state ticket the following night, trailing the No. 1 Cyril Pirates (24- 4), 37-30, with just over a minute to play in the area title game Friday night.

Reds rattle rival Eagles’ nest

WEATHERFORD – After watching its 10-point lead slowly shrink down to a 48-45 advantage late in the fourth quarter, the No. 16 Clinton boys’ basketball team (16-9 overall) needed to squash Weatherford’s momentum to finish off a tough, road playoff win Thursday night.
