Dues for 2025 property taxes are almost here. According to Custer County Treasurer Janet Roulet, the first half is due today, as long as the total is more than $25. If the total is less than or equal to $25, the entire sum is due today. If the total is more than $25, property owners can pay the first half today and the second half will be due March 31, 2026.

Though the county is not under a burn ban, fire danger was a frequent topic of conversation at Monday’s meeting of the Custer County commissioners.
Charges have been added to a previous sentence for a man who was recently arrested for copper theft from a windmill site after further investigation linked him to another burglary at the same location.
A 60-year-old man from Coffeeville was injured early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 at the westbound 13 mile marker and 1810 Road.
