Clinton City Council members voted unanimously Tuesday night to not approve the request for rezoning sought by Martinez Brothers Auto Repair at 900 S. 10th St. from general commercial to heavy commercial.

Mayor David Berrong, City Manager Robert Johnston and Clinton Economic Development Director Roland Mower were updated Tuesday by officials at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and engineers from Garver – the company doing the design work – on the progress of the I-40 Exit 65 project in Clinton.

Clinton resident Avont Bryson was searched Oct. 3 during a traffic stop by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Hoffman, who said he discovered approximately 10 grams of marijuana in a plastic sack, $840 in cash and a plastic sack containing smaller baggies inside a fanny pack Bryson was wearing.

Southwest Elementary set

Southwest Elementary School will soon be introducing a new place for students to read while they are at school. Library Incorporated, the new outdoor reading area, is set to be finished by the end of the fall semester.
