CHS, CMS gamers attend OKSE State at SWOSU

The age-old parental condemnation, “Those games will rot your brain!” has taken a blow today as six gamers’ screen time and dexterous extremities has qualified them for the Oklahoma Scholastic Esports (OKSE) State Tournament hosted by Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) in its new Esports Arena located inside the Wellness Center at 1101 North Broadway, Weatherford. The Clinton Middle School sent five Whirlwinds to State yesterday to compete in the video games “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” and “Fortnite.” Gamers Javier Rodriguez, Garrett Gubitz and Tate Bryson competed in “Smash,” a game featuring the Super Mario Brothers and other Nintendo characters fighting to knock one another off a fighting stage.

Kory Sage Lara, 23, of Hennesey, has been charged with knowingly receiving and concealing stolen property after a Nov. 23 incident involving a stolen trailer and sucker pipe allegedly taken from multiple areas across western Oklahoma.
