Area football teams hit the road

Tonight commences the season and new 11-man stint for the Burns Flat-Dill City football program, while the Corn Bible Academy Crusaders (0-1 overall) look to bounce back after a 52-6, season-opening, home loss to Snyder.

A-B boasts back-to-back wins

Mason Red and the Arapaho-Butler baseball team (5-6 overall as of press time Thursday) enter this weekend’s Labor Day Tournament on a two-game winning streak. The Indians defeated Leedey, 8-2, last week and then Cheyenne-Reydon, 5-4, Tuesday. 

Lady Indians head for tourney

Abigail Casas and the Arapaho-Butler softball team (11-7 overall as of press time Thursday) try to get back in the win column after a couple losses. They play in the Sentinel Tourney this weekend. 

Foss Lake level is 2.05 feet below normal. Gates are closed. Water temperature is in lower 70’s and clear.

CHS kicks off season with Boomers

As of press time Wednesday (a phrase that’s becoming more common daily), there will be football this week, when the Clinton Red Tornadoes open their third-straight season against the rival Woodward Boomers at 7 p.m. Friday at the Tornado Bowl.

Lady Reds falter late in Cache loss

For four innings, the Clinton softball team went stride-forstride with the Cache Lady Bulldogs, but a four-run fifth inning by Cache, put CHS in an insurmountable hole that ended in a 9-2 defeat for the Lady Reds.

Clinton defeats Altus

The Clinton volleyball team (4-3 overall as of press time Tuesday) added to its win column, with a fourset win (25-21, 25-23, 24-26, 25-18) over the Altus Lady Bulldogs (4-7), Monday night at the Tornado Dome.
