Raging wildfires scour county land

Fire crews across Custer County were busy Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning battling a large wildfire off of Interstate 40 between Clinton and Weatherford. The fire sparked around noon Tuesday and burned around 1,500 acres but according to officials, no structures were caught in the flames.

Decisions were made quickly late Tuesday evening after a social media post surfaced making threatening language toward “CHS.”

The Clinton City Council approved a $3,600 grant Tuesday for the Clinton Gun Club to help the club finance multiple youth and adult shooting events over the next few months.
