The Clinton Fire Department stopped a fast-moving grass fire Tuesday on 1080 Rd. and S. Highway 183. The fire started from an ember during the shrink-wrapping process for pallets nearby. CFD Capt. Work trucks, cranes and other equipment from Auger Services and Power Line Services are replacing the old wood poles with steel on the Public Service Company of Oklahoma transmission system coming into Clinton. The upgrade should make them more reliable – especially during ice storms. This is part of a major project being done from El Reno to Elk City. Once that segment is completed, work will begin on the transmission lines from Elk City to Hobart. Total cost of the project is estimated to be around $100-million.
