Filing for the Clinton and Arapaho-Butler Board of Education No. 2 seats at the Custer County Election Board Office ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

This Saturday the American Red Cross and members of the Clinton Fire Department will install free smoke alarms and provide residents with home fire safety information during a Sound the Alarm event.

Responded to 532 S. 10th St. for smoke or odor removal.

Incumbents Kim Meacham, Clinton, and Derek Matz, Arapaho-Butler, were the only filed candidates for their appointed School Board of Education No.2 seats.

Clinton resident Jonathan Addison, 26, was charged Nov. 24 with “assault, battery or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon” for allegedly stabbing Clinton resident Ahmed Karim, 33, repeatedly in the head with a box-cutter.

Filing for Clinton’s Board of Education No. 2 seat at the Custer County Election Board Office will remain open until 5 p.m. Friday. Candidates interested in running may file a declaration of candidacy until then. As of Tuesday afternoon, incumbent Kim Meacham was the only filed candi date for the seat.
