A significant amount of money was stolen from Clinton’s Chamber of Commerce at the Frisco Center, according to Clinton Police Detective Ray Hammans.

Custer County Treasurer Janet Roulet announced she extended the deadline of the first property tax payment from Dec. 31 to Jan. 3 because the courthouse will be closed Dec. 31 in observance of New Year’s Day. Roulet reminds all tax payers that a 1.5% penalty of the amount due will be added to their account starting Jan. 4. The penalty will grow each month the balance is not paid, she said.

Custer County is under a two-week burn ban issued by county commissioners Monday morning during their regular meeting. Residents are not allowed do any activity, including common New Year’s activities like have a bonfire or set off fireworks, that could cause a wildland fire.
