Santa stays busy on the job

Whether it’s caroling, sampling sweets or the sharing of gifts, many people enjoy basking in all of the festivities the holiday season has to offer. However, not many have gone so far as to propagate the Christmas spirit as Custer City local Jeff Terrell, a.k.a. Santa Claus.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas across Clinton with Christmas Eve arriving Sunday and with that, several area churches will be hosting various Christmas services to celebrate the holiday.

City seeks Rt. 66 grant funding

All eyes continue to be on the upcoming Route 66 Centennial with the City of Clinton along with other organizations across the community preparing to seek grant funding and make plans for the 2026 celebration of the Mother Road.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — After years of combing through military records and making some key deductions, a team of U.S. government historians and researchers has finally put a name to case file X-3212, identifying an Army private from eastern New Mexico named Homer Mitchell who died during World War II.

In 1864, Union Gen. William T. Sherman sent a message to President Abraham Lincoln that began, “I beg to present you as a Christmas gift the city of Savannah.”
