Aided by record collections from oil and gas production, gross receipts to the treasury in June and for the just-ended fiscal year show the state’s economy continues to expand in spite of current inflationary pressure, State Treasurer Randy McDaniel announced recently.

Agents from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Office of the Inspector General (OIG), with the assistance of law enforcement agents across multiple jurisdictions, took part in a warrant roundup June 28-30. The operation resulted in 12 arrests for offenses ranging from parole violations to escape from custody.

DO JUST ONE THING

•One of the greenest things you can do when taking care of your yard is to leave the grass clippings on your lawn and not dispose of them in trash bags. But it's also important to make sure those clippings (and leaves and other organic yard debris) stay in your yard and not on hard surfaces like your driveway and sidewalks. The reason? When it rains, these items can end up in storm drains and waterways. It's better for them to decompose naturally in your yard instead.

DEAR HARRIETTE: I am renting a room from a single mother with two kids. I live in a bedroom on the opposite side of the house with my own bathroom. Most of the time I do not even see the children or their mother because of our schedules. The kids leave for school at 7 a.m., and I am up for work by 9 a.m. Lately, when I return from work, I notice small things in my bedroom and bathroom are out of place. I've gone so far as to take pictures of how everything looked before I left just to make the comparison. It's safe to say that someone in the house is touching my things, and I'm assuming it's the children. How do I handle this without sounding too confrontational? – Don't Touch
