Shepherd Home Health & Hospice is currently holding its annual Thanksgiving food drive to supply a food basket to those in need during the holidays. Organizers began accepting food Monday and will accept donations through Nov. 13.

The Clinton Chamber of Commerce will be hosting candidates for Clinton’s Ward 3 City Council seat in a debate set for noon Nov. 1 at the Frisco Center located at 101 S. Fourth St. Community members are asked to submit their questions for candidates in the coming days and to RSVP for the luncheon by Oct. 30.

In 1944, U.S. forces landed on the island of Leyte, beginning a monthslong campaign to free the Philippines from Japanese control.
