Roy Gerald Browning, 80, passed away at his home on March 12, 2022, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on April 10, 1941 in Sentinel, Oklahoma, to John and Florabelle Browning.

He was a graduate of Clinton High School and loved attending the Class of ’59 Reunions. Roy served 22 years in the United States Army and received numerous awards for recruiting. He also spent 20 years at the U.S. Post Office.

Roy was a Master Mason for 50 years, a member of the Hancock Masonic Lodge, and The Murat Shrine, where he played the base drum for the Highlanders.

He was a Past Commander Raper Commandry Number 1 where he marched with the drill team for many years.

He loved his involvement with Job’s Daughters Bethel 67 where he served as Associate Bethel Guardian. He is also a Past Associate Grand Guardian and Past Associate Grand Bethel Guardian.

Roy never met a stranger that he didn’t make a friend. He enjoyed camping on the Ohio River and in Florida. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, James Ellis and Jimmy.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Louise Turner Browning; his children, David Gerald Browning, Leah Everett (Stephen), and Laura Goetz (Jeromey); grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Alexis, and Samantha; and siblings, Calvin and Janice.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229, with a 6 p.m. Masonic Service. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, with burial to follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
