Robert Wade “Shaggy” Nelson, 52, Clinton resident passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in the home of Robert “Boot” and Donna Brown after battling a long fight with cancer. He was born February 14, 1969 to Robert James Nelson and Marilyn (Newcomb) Nelson in Lubbock, TX.

“Shaggy” was raised in Lubbock, TX and a short time in Butler, OK. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.

He started his working career at young age roofing with his dad; he did roofing most of his life. He was known as an avid chess player and an excellent pool player. As he got older he enjoyed tinkering with bicycles, junking and going to the Casino. He most recently was working on his relationship with the Lord.

James is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Beth Kittle, Clinton, OK, daughters, Heather Nelson, Weatherford, OK and Rosemary Nelson, OKC, OK; sister Donna Brown and husband, Robert “Boot”, Clinton; brother, Ernest Nelson and wife, La Costa, Arapaho, OK.

He was preceded in death by parents, his paternal and maternal grandparents, sister, Rosemary and Uncle Weldon Nelson.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 9, 2021 in the Xodus Clubhouse in Clinton under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
