Funeral services for Wynema Wright, 97, of Butler will be held at 9 a.m. Friday in the Butler Baptist Church.

She died Monday, April 22, 2019, at Grace Living Center in Clinton.

Wright was born Oct. 24, 1921, to Earle McKeever and Ruby (Cole) McKeever in Booker, Texas. She was raised in Booker and graduated from Booker High School in 1939. She continued her education at Panhandle A&M College and completed her master’s degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

On Oct. 20, 1946, she married Lelan Wright in Sharon, Texas. They made their first home in Tuttle and moved to Butler in 1953.

She taught school one year in Beaver and two years in Bluff City, Kan. After staying home with her children for 10 years, she resumed teaching and taught at Butler Schools for 34 years.

Wright had been a member of the Butler Baptist Church since 1953.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Judy; three brothers, Ivan McKeever, Wendell McKeever and Denny McKeever; and a sister, Louise Pearson.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Wright and partner Karen Richardson of Butler; four grandchildren, Rob Gordon and wife Melissa of Butler, Amy Loggins and husband Charlie of Chickasha, Mandy Fuller and husband Roger of Mustang, and Jeremy Wright of Idabel; six great-grandchildren, Robert Gordon, Judith Bymaster, Brandt Bymaster, Morgandy Haggard, Merrit Grace Fuller and Kirstin Wright; and one great-great-granddaughter, Sutton Gordon.

She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Lou McKeever of California.

The family has suggested that those wanting to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Butler Baptist Church.

The service will be officiated by Terry Beals. Burial will follow at Butler Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
