Wanda Young, a strong, consistent, faithful, and loving sister, aunt, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and greatgrandmother went into the loving arms of Jesus in heaven on November 22, 2021. She was 87 years old.

Wanda Flowers Young was born in Clinton, Oklahoma on January 13, 1934. The oldest of two girls, Wanda was smart, reliable and strong as a young woman growing up in the western part of the state. She attended Clinton Schools.

Wanda met the love of her life, Buddy Young, and the two were married when Wanda was 16 years old, and Buddy was 21 years old in 1949. They would go on to be married for 64 years until Buddy died in 2013. Buddy and Wanda had one son, Gary Young. Gary was always the apple of Wanda and Buddy’s eye. Gary would grow up excelling in all sports and eventually playing football at the University of Oklahoma, a source of great pride in the Young household.

Wanda would go on to become one of the most respected members of the banking community in Clinton where she worked for Oklahoma Bank and Trust for over 20 years as a Vice President. In addition to her professional life at the bank, she and Buddy had a successful wood crafting business where they traveled all over the country to craft shows where their furniture and paintings were very sought-after pieces. They also enjoyed traveling across the U.S. in their RV with many of their friends, playing all kinds of games and cards to pass the time.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Ella Flowers of Clinton, her nephew Rick Mathis, her beloved husband Buddy Young and a great grandson, Isaiah Lee Stone.

She is survived by her son, Gary and his wife Saundra of Greenville, SC as well as her granddaughter Lee Anne Stone and her husband Renzi and their two boys, Jackson and Walker Stone, of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by her grandson Matthew Young. She is also survived by her best friend and younger sister Sue Mathis of Clinton, her niece Sherri Klein (David) and many other nieces, cousins and family and friends. Wanda was the coolest mom and grandma to her family. She loved nothing more than to help others, offer a friendly smile, watch the Thunder, OU football and the Bachelor. She loved reading cookbooks, Oklahoma’s Ree Drummond “The Pioneer Woman” was her favorite.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Kiesau Lee Funeral home in Clinton, OK. Wanda will be laid to rest at Clinton Cemetery next to her husband Buddy. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted “in loving memory of Wanda Young’’ to the Isaiah Stone Foundation, 621 N. Robinson, Suite 600, OKC, OK 73102.
