Robert John Edgar was born October 11th, 1937 in Custer City, Oklahoma to Marguerite (Patton) and Robert G. Edgar. He passed away Saturday, January 30th, 2021 at his home in Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 19 days.

Robert grew up in the Custer City community where he attended school graduating in 1955. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Hawaii.

After 3 years he was discharged and returned to Custer City where he helped his father on the family farm. In the mid 60’s, Robert began truck driving and hauling freight over the road. He was married on March 8th, 1967 to Darlene (Hawkins) Edgar in Longview, Texas.

They made their home in the Clinton, Oklahoma area where they raised their children. In the mid 70’s Robert began his career in the oil field where he was a drilling superintendent and was over many wells in the western Oklahoma area.

In 1999 he retired and enjoyed coyote hunting, helping many people rid their yard of gofers and spending time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Evelyn Parker and Sally Lash and one brother, Edgar Curtis Edgar.

Robert is survived by his wife, Darlene, of the home; 5 children, Steven, Lyle, Hope, Ross and Daniel; several grandkids; great and great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Shepherd Home Health and Hospice for the care shown to Robert and the family.
