Richard “Rick” Kobernus, 71, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2022, in his home with his family by his side. He was born on February 5, 1951, to the late Emil Henry Kobernus and the late, Irene Lucille (Smith) Schulte.

Rick grew up in a military family and spent his childhood in many locations including 4 years in Naples, Italy where he acted as an Italian translator and played in the Little League World Series for Italy. He graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, Oklahoma in 1969 and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Math and Business from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1973.

He married Marsha Moore in 1971, in Clinton, Oklahoma. Rick and Marsha moved to Duncan, Oklahoma in 1977 where Rick was plant manager of the Hagar Slacks plant. In 1982, Rick opened Kobernus Financial Services, an insurance and investment office, which he ran until the present day. He loved the business and his clients meant the world to him.

Rick was a lifelong Oklahoma Sooner fan and was a season ticket holder for 24 years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, golfing with lifelong friends, bird watching, and family trips to Colorado.

Rick is survived by his wife, Marsha of the home and his three children, Matt Kobernus and Kendra Sides, of Greenwood, MO, Bryan and Kelly Kobernus, of Celina, TX and Lauren and Ryan Adams of Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Camren Kobernus, Kennedy Kobernus and Teddy Adams.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at a future date.
