Rhonda Kay Schoeppel, 68, of Fairview passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025. She was born September 14, 1956, in Clinton, Oklahoma to Melvin and Peggy Groce Kenney.
Kay grew up in Clinton with her sister and best friend, Vickie. She is a graduate of Clinton High School and received her degree in Elementary Education from Central State College (now the University of Central Oklahoma). She spent her entire teaching career in Fairview Public Schools, teaching reading, writing and spelling at Chamberlain Middle School for the majority of her 31 years. Kay enjoyed being Chacey’s cheerleading sponsor and running the concession stand at Chamberlain during basketball games. She enjoyed going to Oklahoma City to see musicals and spending time at Canton Lake.
Kay was incredibly proud of her daughter Chacey, who she called “my bright spot.” She cherished her sister and her many friends. Her days were brightened by time spent with loved ones and the companionship of her faithful dog, Tinker.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Chacey Schoeppel Wilcox and wife Amie Schoeppel Wilcox of Little Rock, Arkansas, her sister Vickie Lynn Kenney of Weatherford, her brother Dale Vineyard, and a wide circle of dear friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James “Jim” Schoeppel.
A celebration of Kay’s life will be held at 1:00 pm., Friday, March 7, 2025 at the Fairview M.B. Church with Pastor James Suderman officiating. In lieu of flowers, Kay’s family requests that any donations be made to the Fairview School Education Foundation, in honor of Kay with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O.
