Paulette Edna Vanderford was born September 19, 1959 at Carswell Air Force base in Ft. Worth, Texas to Daphne Rose (Brown) and James Vanderford, Sr. She passed away Thursday, January 7th, 2021 at her home in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 61 years, 3 months and 19 days.

Paulette, being the daughter of a military man, grew up in England until the age of 5. In 1963 her family returned stateside and was stationed at Mountain Home, Idaho; Tampa, Florida, and then in Burns Flat, Oklahoma.

Paulette attended junior high and high school at Burns Flat graduating in 1977. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart Lynn Dobyns on October 26, 1979 at St. Matthews Catholic Church.

After their marriage Paulette became an administrative assistant at SWODA for a number of years until she became a legal aid and later found employment at the Jim Thorpe Hospital as an administrative assistant.

In 2004 she began working at Plains Marketing as a dispatcher and continued until her retirement in 2007 to be a full time grandmother. Paulette played softball from childhood until she was in her early 40’s and participated on many co-ed teams.

She also was a drum major in high school and could still to this day play most any instruments. In her spare time she enjoyed basketball, swimming and traveling but her passion was spoiling grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter, Brandie Lynne Dobyns and 1 sister, Phyllis Williams.

Paulette is survived by 3 children, Stevie Voda and husband, Craig, Elk City, OK, Joshua Dobyns and wife, Kenna, Canute, OK and Meagan Cohagen, Sayre, OK; 5 grandchildren, Josslynn, Corey, Colson, Emma and Addison; 4 siblings, Jim Vanderford and wife, Ada, Burns Flat, OK, Denise Willis, Burns Flat, OK, Angela Lamb, Tampa, FL, Anthony Vanderford and wife, Heather, Tampa, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
