Oliver Allen Lane

Private Graveside Services for Oliver Allen Lane will be held Tuesday December 1, 2020 at the Mound Hope Cemetery and under the Direction of Kiesau Lee Funeral Home.

Oliver Allen Lane was born on November 6, 1922, to Thomas Hubert and Sophia (Martin) Lane in Goodlett, Texas. As a very young boy, he became “Buddy” Lane to everyone and few people ever knew his name was Oliver. At the age of 6, his family moved to a farm east of Putnam, OK, where he grew up. They attended church at Roseland Assembly of God Church where his father preached many of the sermons. Buddy accepted the Lord when he was in the 8th grade and was baptized in a nearby creek.

He attended grade school at Roseland and transferred to Putnam High School. His country was at war and he volunteered for service in 1941. While on furlough, he married his high school sweetheart, Eulalia Faye Irvin, on January 16, 1942. He was a medic in the US Army and served in an evacuation hospital in Germany.

After returning home, he and Eulalia lived on a dairy farm south of Clinton for two years and then bought a home in Clinton. He was a dedicated Public Service Company of Oklahoma employee for 36 years, starting as a lineman and retiring as a service man December 1, 1984. He also farmed his father-in-law’s land for a few years.

Perhaps one of the biggest thrills of his life was in 1954 when his son, Nolan Keith, was born. Much of his life revolved around Keith, his wife Sally, and later his two grandsons, Rusty and David.

Buddy and Eulalia loved to travel and went on many bus tours. They also owned a travel trailer and belonged to the Avion Travel Club and the Wheatland RV Club for close to 20 years. They spent 20 years going to south Texas for the winter and cherished the many friends they made there.

Buddy carried his golf clubs most everywhere he went and was a member of the Riverside Golf Course.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clinton and active in the Worthwhile Sunday School Class. He loved the Lord and the Bible Study during this class and the close friends he made in that class.

He belonged to the American Legion and the PSO retiree organization.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eulalia, of almost 69 years and his grandson, David. He was the last surviving of 8 siblings. His four sisters – Clara Noblett, Tommie Webb, Lottie Brandt, and Alverta Atteberry, and 3 brothers – SC Lane, Charles Lane, and Tom Lane preceded him death.
