Chapel services will be held for Norman “Gene” Burden, 67, of Sayre, at 2 p.m. Friday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.

He died Sunday, April 21, 2019, at his Sayre home.

Norman Eugene Burden was born Dec. 17, 1951, to Norman Van Burden and Mary Edith (Ward) Burden. He was raised in the Stafford and Foss areas and graduated from Canute High School in 1970.

He worked as a farm laborer until 1980, when he purchased and began operating Gene Burden Trucking in Elk City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Archie Lee Burden and Frank Burden; and two sisters, Lois Huey and Maxine Webb.

Survivors include a son, Vance Burden and wife Jamey of Clinton; two sisters, Ruby Mowry of Mustang and Mary Richardson and husband Duane of Butler; a brother, Jimmy Burden of Clinton; and longtime special friend, Henrietta “Oscar” Byrley of Fort Cobb.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
