Funeral services will be held for Minnie Ruth Ballew, 96, at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Canute First Methodist Church.

She died Monday, July 1, 2019, in Clinton.

Ballew was born Feb. 22, 1923, to William “Arve” and Ester (Williams) Wilson in Canute, and was raised in the Prairie View community.

On May 16, 1942, she married Luther Melvin “Bud” Ballew in Clinton. They made their home in the country near Canute, where she enjoyed baking banana bread and cinnamon bread for her family and friends.

Ballew was an ombudsman for more than 23 years and also worked at Clinton Regional Hospital for a period of time.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her mother, and one sister, Marie Edwards.

Survivors include two children, Gene Ballew and wife Cherryl of Kansas City, Mo., and Tom Ballew and wife Donna of Bowie, Texas; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Faye White of Elk City, and a host of additional relatives and friends.
