Funeral services for Melton Carroll Hatfield of Eakly, Okla., are scheduled for 2:00 Thursday, January 23, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Cordell, under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home, and officiated by Rev. Terrell Romberg. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.

Carroll and his twin brother were born in Binger, Okla., on November 5, 1931. He passed away January 21, 2020, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Hydro, Okla. He was 88 years and 2 months old.

Carroll graduated from Southwestern State College in 1956 with a degree in automotive mechanics. He married Patricia Nelson of Yukon, Okla., in 1957. They had two daughters, Justine and Melissa Carol.

Carroll worked for the TG&Y warehouse in Oklahoma City for approximately 14 years. After moving to Weatherford, he and his wife, Patty, ran the famous Porter House Restaurant in Weatherford from 1973 to 1976.

From 1976 thru 1979 he was employed in the maintenance department at Southwestern State College. In 1979 he completed basic police training at the Sayre Junior College and was employed by the Custer Country Sheriff’s Department until he retired in October of 1990.

In September of 1986 Carroll was married to Carolyn O’Dell-Watt in Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Rachel Hawkins-Hatfield; his twin brother Harold and brothers LeRoy, Raymond and Jimmy; and his sister Wanda Buchannon.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn, of the home; his daughters, Justine Nelson and her husband Eric of Weatherford, and Melissa and her husband Chris Sturm of Cashion; his sister Modena Kimble of Guthrie, Okla.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Smith, Jarrod Burton, Lindsey Merrell and Grace Nelson, all of Weatherford; five great-grandchildren, Koser Smith, Gunnar Smith, Gavin Merrell, Kenzie Merrell and Holland Burton; and Amy Alston of Carriere, Mississippi.
