Mary Ann (Baker) Muse departed this Earthly life and entered in to Heaven on Monday, January 6, 2025 at the age of 88, at her home in the Homestead of Clinton.

Born on April 25, 1936 in Vernon TX., to William and Vada (Rush) Baker, she attended school in Altus, OK., finally graduating at Indiahoma Public Schools.

Mary married Don Muse at a very young age. Don was heard all over town telling everyone that he married the best looking girl in Jackson County! To this marriage, three children were born, Doug, Donna, and Greg.

Mary’s professional career included a variety of positions in the education field, an array of retail jobs, as well as several positions within the service field as a waitress/ hostess.

Over her lifetime, Mary has enjoyed many pastimes and hobbies. She was a sensational seamstress, making many outfits for herself, her children and family, as well as sewing for others in the community.

Mary also loved to walk, she would be seen by many walking her dog, walking with neighbors, or walking alone, several times a day.

Mary’s favorite pastime, until her health would not allow, was square dancing. She began square dancing in her early 20’s. She was a long-time member of the Hub City squares, also active in district and state square dance functions. She traveled far and wide to dances.

She is best known to her family for being the one they could always count on in their time of need… their anchor!

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, her partner Walt Guthrie, her son Doug, her brothers Bo and Tommy Baker, sisters Wanda Houston and Claudia Studer, and her son-in-law Mike Poeling.

She is survived by her sister Peggy Bihlmaier of Salina, KS., her son Greg, her daughter Donna and her husband Brad Widener all of Mont Belvieu, TX., her grandchildren Brooke Poeling, and Paige Poeling and Max McKinsey of Clinton, Bryan Muse and his wife Andrea of Norman, Ok., Also a great granddaughter Vivien Salinas of Clinton, OK., and a host of family and dear friends.

Mary’s service will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 10, 2025 in the Hyman Chapel, located at 1217 W. Gary Boulevard, Clinton, Ok., 73601, officiated by Doyle Kinney and Charles Simpson, burial will follow in the Hess Cemetery in Hess, Ok., (south of Altus). The family will greet visitors at the Lee Hometown Funeral Home, Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
