Judy Jean Walker, age 78, lifelong resident of Butler, passed away late Saturday, November 15, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 22, 1946, in Elk City, Oklahoma, to Earl and Frances Eloise (Beutler) Johnson.
Judy was raised west of Butler on the family farm. She attended Butler Schools and graduated with the Class of 1965. She also attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Butler was always home, and she built her life and raised her family there.
On February 27, 1971, on a bitterly cold day, Judy married the love of her life, Curt Walker, in a ceremony held at her parents’ home. At the time, she was working as a bank teller at First National Bank in Elk City, a position she held until the couple learned they were expecting. From that moment on, Judy devoted herself to being a loving homemaker and ranch wife — cooking for her children, Curt, and the farm hands, and always keeping a warm and welcom-ing home.
Judy was deeply involved in the Butler community throughout her life. She was a member of the Gingham Girls, active in the Butler PTO, served on the EMS Board, and she and Curt were class parents multiple times. She helped decorate for homecoming each year and served as Secretary for the Butler Round Up Club. Her commitment to her town and its people was evident in everything she did.
A woman of many talents and interests, Judy enjoyed shopping, crossstitching, reading, puzzles, arts and crafts, cooking, and traveling. She loved hosting family gatherings and especially cherished hosting the annual Church Christmas Party in her home. She served faithfully as the Church Secretary for many years. Judy also loved having her hair and nails done, and she was honored as the first-ever “Miss Queen of the West” in the Queen of the West Pageant.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Frances Johnson; her in-laws, Lorretta and Leon Walker; her sister and brother-in-law, Darrell and Marva Dupree; and her niece, Darla Kinney.
She is survived by her husband, Curt Walker, of the home; her daughters, Lori Adams and husband Greg of Clinton, Dori Fansler and husband Matt of Weatherford, and Tori Shepherd and husband Jeremy of Butler; her sister, Janice Parker and husband Johnny of Butler; and her brother, Rick Johnson and wife Bev of Butler. Judy leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren: Conley Adams and wife Kiley of Owasso; Colten Adams of Weatherford; Ansley Butler of Weatherford; Yukon Butler of Weatherford; Walker Fansler of Weatherford; Rylen Outhouse of Butler; Tatum Outhouse of Butler; Amy Jo Shepherd of Butler; and Dacy Shepherd of Butler.
Family will receive guests at Lee Hometown Funeral Home on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Butler, with Jerick Johnson and Randy Beutler officiating. Burial will follow at the Butler Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
