John Wesley Smith, 82, of Sayre, Okla., was born on February 2, 1938 in Butler, Oklahoma. He is the son of Ernest Franklin Hallie Ada for (Newcomb) Smith. John went to walk the Heavenly Plains streets of gold with his Lord and Savior on May 28, Ray, 2020, in a Elk City, Oklahoma.

John graduated from Hammon High School, Class of 1956. He married his best friend and love his life, Carolyn in a Christmas Eve wedding on December 24, 1962 in Clinton, Okla.

John started the Smith Dairy in 1965 in Carter, Okla., which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1995. In addition to dairy, John was a lifetime farmer and rancher.

He enjoyed being with his family, attending his grandkids’ ballgames, his time on the farm and ranch, playing dominoes, and he was known to beat anyone he played.

John and his wife were both longtime members of the Retrop Baptist Church in Retrop, Okla.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Retrop Baptist Church. Rev. Gary Vitosky will officiate. Interment will be at Poarch Cemetery in Carter, Okla. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Okla.

John is survived by his son, Johnny Smith of Carter, Okla.; two daughters, Terri Daniels and her husband Charly of Elk City, Okla., and Michelle Moore of Elk City, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Colby Smith and wife, Ashley of Mangum, Okla., Conner Smith and wife Nikyla of Elk City, Okla., Caden Smith, and Zach Breeze and his wife, Emalee all of Carter, Okla., McKenzie Berg, Hallie Smith and Gracie Smith, all of Elk City, Okla., Kyle Range and wife Katrina of Sentinel, Okla., and Amber Moya and husband DBJ of Crowell, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, LaceLynn Breeze of Elk City, Okla., Grayson Fite of Elk City, Okla., Hunter Range, Trent Range and Gemma Range, all of Sentinel, Okla., Paig Moya, Chloe Moya of Crowell, Texas, and Cambree Smith of Mangum, Okla.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Smith; parents, Ernest and Hallie Smith; three sisters, Ada Spencer, Vern Choate and Belle Rawson; and daughter, Sheila Silk.
