Funeral services will be held for James Roe Burns Sr., 58, of Arapaho at 1 p.m. Friday at the Cheyenne and Arapaho Community Building.

He died Sunday, July 14, 2019, just north of Clinton.

Burns was born July 2, 1961, to Edmond and Ida Burns (Yelloweagle) in Clinton. He was raised in Clinton and attended school in Clinton and Riverside.

He was self-employed mowing and maintaining yards. He loved going to casinos and spending time with family and friends.

Burns was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lloyd Ellis Jr., Edmond Burns Jr., and Robert Burns; and a sister, La-Quita Ellis Blackowl.

Survivors include his daughter, Eunice Burns of Arapaho; a son, James Roe Burns Jr.; three sisters, Chiquita Ellis of Clinton, Roberta Burns of Lawton, and Sharon Ellis of Clinton; two brothers, Emerson Ellis Sr. and John Burns, both of Clinton; and seven grandchildren.

A traditional all-night wake will be held starting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cheyenne and Arapaho Community Building.

The service will be officiated by Gerald Panana and under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Traditional burial will follow at Clinton Indian Cemetery.
