Hugo G. Ortiz, 72, died unexpectedly April 9, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Hospital Oklahoma City.

He was born on February 10, 1951, in Namiquepa, Mexico, the son of Enrique Merino and Manuela Ortiz.

Hugo graduated from Comite Municipal de Ciclismo in Juarez, Mexico, Class of 1967. Following graduation, he moved to the United States where he served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Hugo served in the Army from April 1971 to April 1977. After the War, he met his wife Manuela De Jesus Limas (Susie) and they lived in Muleshoe, Tx for a short time but eventually they would make their home where they lived in Cushing, Oklahoma where Hugo worked for the Cushing Railroad Company for many years. Later Hugo became a truck driver, and he then moved his family to Dill City, Oklahoma.

They recently celebrated 48 years of marriage. Hugo was a loyal member of the American Legion and was a member of the VFW Post 4465.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his only son Hugo Guillermo Ortiz, Jr, his two brothers Enrique Hernando Merino Ortiz and Rigoberto Merino Ortiz as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Hugo is survived by his wife Manuela Limas Ortiz (Susie); his daughters Tammie Sue Guiterrez of Cushing, OK, Jacqueline Stovall of Newcastle, OK, Christina Feist and her husband Doug Feist of Collinsville, MS , Kizzy Ortiz of Mooreland, OK; 12 grandchildren Austin Guiterrez and Jasie Rae Reese, Madison Mercedes Flores and Natalie Dani Flores, Makalee Michelle Taylor, Kayla Dianne Feist, Jacob William Feist, Rylee Wes Taylor and Harlee J Taylor, Faith Renee Clingenpeel (Matt), Cassandra Jae Lee, and Hope Rylynn Lee. 3 great grandchildren; Zaylen Matthew Clingenpeel, Coraline Renee Clingenpeel, and Walter Cole Mc-Cullough.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11am, Friday, April 14 at Dill City First Baptist Church located at East Ninth Ave & S Roach St. Dill City, Ok 73641. Arrangements are being handled by Signature Cremation & Funeral Care in Oklahoma City, Ok.
