Memorial services will be held for Georgine Jackson, 84, at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church of Clinton. (Corrected)

She died Friday, Aug. 16, 2019.

Georgine Carothers Jackson was born July 5, 1935, to George Norris Carothers and Muriel (Keller) Carothers in Roswell, N.M. She was raised in Roswell and graduated from Roswell High School in 1953. After high school, she attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a degree in home economics. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

In December of 1956 she married Bill Jackson, a dental student at the University of Missouri Kansas City at the time.

Jackson taught high school home economics at Rose-dale High School in Kansas City, Kan. Following her husband’s graduation from dental school the couple moved to Clinton.

Jackson loved the outdoors and cooking for her family was a passion. Her grandchildren remember her optimism and practicality, as well as her helping them learn to cook, never declining to play a board game, and reading countless bedtime stories.

Jackson was active in the First United Methodist Church, was a volunteer at the Methodist Nursing Home, and she was the director of Meals on Wheels for 25 years. She was also a member of Junior Service League, P.E.O., United Methodist Women, and volunteered for many other Clinton projects and organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ruth Ann Borgeson.

Survivors include Laura, David, Jackson, Allison and George Boyd; Chris, Diane, Kelly and Geena Jackson; Tim, Carrie, Caroline and Claire Jackson; and Sarah Jackson and Ian Glazer.

The family has suggested that memorial donations can be made to the Clinton Public School Foundation or the First United Methodist Church of Clinton.

The service will be officiated by Pastor Rick Robart and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
