Floyd “Sonny” Wesley Webb II was born on October 7, 1937, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Floyd and Gwendolyn (Rainey) Webb. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1955 and later attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, where he met the love of his life, Margo Laws. Sonny and Margo were married on October 27, 1956, beginning a loving partnership that would span nearly 70 years.
After settling in Clinton, Sonny began working alongside his father at Webb Lumber. They welcomed their son, Floyd Wesley Webb III “Bud,” in 1958 and their daughter, Terri, in 1962. In 1967, the family moved to Comanche, where Sonny and Margo became well known for their entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to the community.
Sonny and Margo purchased the Comanche Motel in 1959 and operated it until 1984. Over the years, Sonny pursued several successful business ventures throughout Stephens County, including Webb Fabrics, Carpet Outlet, and an extensive rental property business consisting of mobile homes, duplexes, single-family homes, and commercial buildings. Sonny and Margo were the kind of landlords people appreciated and trusted, always treating others with kindness, fairness, and generosity.
In 1985, Sonny and Margo moved to Duncan, where they remained until relocating to Norman in 2025. Their generosity and compassion left a lasting impact on the community. In 1989, Sonny and his friend Jim Morgan founded the Stephens County Community Christmas Dinner after recognizing the need for a welcoming place where people in Stephens County could enjoy a warm meal and fellowship on Christmas Day. Sonny was also a dedicated member and volunteer with Christians Concerned, a food pantry in Duncan, and volunteered with The Toy Shop, which provided Christmas toys for children in need.
Sonny loved spending time with friends, especially during weekly poker and domino games in Duncan. He also enjoyed music and played the marimba in a band with friends. In addition, he dedicated time to serving as a scout leader, investing in and encouraging young people in his community. During retirement, Sonny and Margo especially enjoyed traveling together and making memories with family and friends.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Gwendolyn Webb, and his son-inlaw, Danny Rider.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Margo Webb; his son and daughterin- law, Bud and Pam Webb of Ardmore; his daughter, Terri Rider of Norman; his grandchildren, Sara and husband Jon of Edmond, Eric and wife Shyla of Norman, Jon of Happy Valley, Oregon, and Megan and husband Blake of Noble; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Arden, Kinlee, William, Oakley, and Tuck.
