Funeral services for Erma Mowles, 79, of Clinton will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Westside Pentecostal Church.

She died Thursday, June 13, 2019, at AllianceHealth Clinton hospital following a six-year battle with cancer.

Erma Lee Mowles was born Dec. 19, 1939, to Jewel Eaton and Ethel (Cavasos) Eaton in Leedey. She was raised in Leedey and graduated from Leedey High School in 1957.

On Dec. 22, 1958, she married Joe Mowles in Wheatland, Calif.

While her husband was in the U.S. Navy, the couple lived in San Diego and Long Beach, Calif., and Waukegan, Ill. They then returned to Clinton, where she worked at the Kellwood Factory for three years.

They later moved to Oklahoma City, where Mowles learned business administration at University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian College. For about the next 20 years she worked in credit life insurance in the Oklahoma City area.

Mowles received many awards, including Most Valuable Employee for several years in a row, and an all-expense paid trip to New York City.

In 1991 she retired and returned to Clinton.

Mowles had been a longtime member of the West-side Pentecostal Church. She loved reading, crafts, crocheting, working puzzles and cooking for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her step-father, Joe Mowles; a son, Terry Mowles; a daughter-in-law, Carrie Mowles; three great-grandsons, Jason Berry, Joey Berry and Bradyn Eaton; a step-great-grandson, Kevin Robb; and two brothers, Jerry Eaton and Marvin Eaton.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Mowles and wife Lonna of Tuttle and David Mowles and wife Rhonda of Weatherford; a sister, Lavona Eaton of Clinton; and two brothers, Adrain Eaton and wife Connie of Clinton and Charles Eaton and wife of Betty of Hammon.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Sherri Welch, Lori Ladd, Tama McDow, D’Lisa Pool, David Joe Mowles Jr., Brad Mowles, Amanda Johnson and Ben Mowles; two step-grandchildren, Bobby Robb and Rachel Robb; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren.

The service will be officiated by Rev. Bobby Stewart and Rev. Jerry Wilkins. Burial will conclude at Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
