A memorial service will be held for Dr. Joella F. Jordan Utley, 83, of Campobello, S.C., and formerly of Clinton, at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg, S.C.

She died Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Utley was born Sept. 20, 1935, to Marshall and Faye Fritch Jordan in Clinton. She was married for 44 years to the late Dr. Joe R. Utley.

A gifted radiologist, Utley was involved with many community organizations including the Tryon Concert Association; Wofford College Board of Trustees; Brevard Music Center; Spartanburg Hospital Foundation; Thursday Study Club; Heart Board of Spartanburg Hospital Foundation; and the Music Foundation of Spartan-burg. She was also the former president of the Spartanburg Philharmonic and a member of the National Board of Advisors Trumpet Competition at George Mason University.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Benjamin Tyler Utley.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Utley Phillips and husband Kenneth Franklin Phillips; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Allen Utley; and three grandchildren, Jayden Tavon Phillips, Joseph Tyler Utley and Jonathan Paul Utley.

The family will receive guests from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Floyd’s Green-lawn Chapel in Spartan-burg, S.C.
