Doris Louise Gunter, 91 of Clinton, Oklahoma, was born April 18, 1934, in Strong City, Oklahoma to Dan B. and Lida Mae (Tidwell) Sharum. Louise looked upon the face of her Lord and Savior Sunday, April 5, 2026, at her residence in Clinton, surrounded by her loving family.

Louise was raised by her aunt and uncle, Lou Veda and Hogan Leary from the age of four years until her marriage at sixteen years of age.

Louise married her soul-mate and the love of her life, Barney Olson Gunter June 15, 1950 in Moore, Oklahoma. Their marriage was a true partnership filled with love and devotion. Together, they shared many beautiful years, building a life rich with memories, laughter, and family, raising three children, Linda, Rita and Larry. Barney preceded her in death September 21, 2015. Louise worked at Dairy Best in Clinton, Oklahoma from 1967 to 1977 and was also a cook at Clinton Hospital from 1977 to 1987, she will be remembered with fondness by the many people she assisted and served.

She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Louise enjoyed doing puzzles, feeding her birds, and watching Gunsmoke. Louise enjoyed having her daily beer and treasured spending time with her family and friends.

She was a true friend and her memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel, Elk City, Oklahoma. Rev. Joe Thompson will officiate.

Interment will be at Foss Cemetery, Foss, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Louise is survived by her two daughters, Linda Hoffman of Canute, Oklahoma, Rita Brinkley of Canute; one son, Larry Gunter and his wife, Yolanda of Berlin, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Duston Hoffman and wife, Krissy of Canute, Christina Hoffman of Canute, Monica Brinkley and Lonnie Gunter of Canute, Mandy Gunter of Coweta, Oklahoma, Chase Stevens of Yukon, Wiley Boone Gunter and his wife, Laray of Stroud, Oklahoma, Jennifer Gunter of Stroud, Erin Stevens of Burns Flat; fifteen great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Olson Gunter; her parents, Dan B. and Lida Mae Sharum; five brothers; three sisters; and one son-in-law, Monty Brinkley.
