A Memorial Service for Darell Shepherd, 77, Weatherford resident, will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in the Southwest Christian Church in Weatherford, OK, officiated by Mike Crow and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, OK.

The family welcomed guests from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, April 8, 2024, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.

Darell Gene Shepherd was born January 19, 1947, to Winford Shepherd and Dorothy Cabiness in Clinton, OK and passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, in the Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon, OK.

Darell was raised in Clinton, OK where he attended Clinton schools and graduated in 1965. While in high school he played the trumpet for the Red Tornado Marching Band. He continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, later U.S. Airforce and then served in the National Guard for a total of 30 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant.

He began a long career in 1963, with Blunk Studio’s and retired in 2005. He photographed schools and individuals all over Western Oklahoma and part of Texas. He was married to Debbie Sheward on March 1, 1986, in Mangum, OK and they made Weatherford, OK their home.

He was a member of the Southwest Christan Church in Weatherford. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and cooking. He enjoyed cooking out for others and often cooked for the college kids and the Oklahoma Highway Patrolman.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie, of the home, daughter, Shannon Shepherd, Norman, OK, sisters, Rhonda Cischke and husband, Tony, Richardson, TX, and Ramona Shepherd, Clinton, OK and brother, Darwin Shepherd, and wife, Carolyn, Elk City, OK.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Dezrea D’alessandro and Carlie D’alessandro, mother-in-law, Jo Sheward, Mangum. OK, brother-inlaw, Rick Sheward and wife, Shirleen, Weatherford, OK and special friends, Jordan, Kelsey and Creek Williams and their family, Weatherford, OK.

The family has requested those wanting to give a memorial contribution may be given to the Southwestern Christian Church, 2232 Lyle Road, Weatherford, OK 73096 or Southwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation, 100 East Campus Drive, Weatherford, OK 73096.
