Funeral service for Clarence Columbus Strong, 85, of Weatherford will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at CrossPointe Church in Weatherford.

He died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Weatherford Regional Hospital.

Strong was born March 16, 1934, in Weatherford to Columbus and Flora (Graves) Strong. He was raised in Weatherford and attended Weatherford Public Schools.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea.

On Sept. 14, 1956, he married Virginia Ragsdale in Silver City, N.M., and they made their home in Weatherford.

Strong worked in asphalt paving for Circle S for 40 years and retired in 1999. He enjoyed spending time outside, hand-fishing, gardening and scrapping metal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Walter, Frank, Ernest and Olan; two sons, Larry and Ray; and one grandson, Chad.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Randy Everett Strong of Sayre, and Clarence L. and Peggy Strong of Weatherford; two sisters, Lou Smith of Clinton, and Lisbeth and Gary Sizelove of Eurea, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

The service will be officiated by Pastor Ron Thiessen. Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery.
