Charleen Peck was born on March 5, 1932, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Charley and Bertha (Schultz) Southerland. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at her rural home east of Clinton, where she lived for 59 years and raised her family.
Charleen grew up in Clinton and graduated in May 1950. On June 11, 1950, she married the love of her life, Albert E. Peck. Together, they were instrumental in founding the Clinton Round-Up Club and remained deeply involved in its activities. While Albert was serving in the Korean War, Charleen worked at Long-Bell Lumber Company, patiently awaiting his return in May 1952.
As a devoted mother, Charleen worked for the Selective Service for a few years before deciding to stay home and care for her children. Once they were older, she began working at Westhoma Federal Credit Union, where she rose to the position of manager. She dedicated 19 years to the credit union before retiring in 1991.
Charleen cherished time spent with her family and was always by Albert’s side, whether it was farming, raising stocker calves, or breeding registered Quarter Horses. She loved embroidery work, quilting for her grandchildren, gardening, and baking holiday cookies. She also found joy in family camping trips, trail rides, and playing cards on Saturday nights. One of her greatest pleasures was attending her grandchildren’s ball games and cheering them on.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; her sister, Nadene Foster; her brotherin- law, Robert Peck; and her in-laws, Opha and Pat Peck.
Charleen is survived by her sons, Randal Peck and his wife, Arlea, of Fay; Larry Peck and his wife, Mary, of Sentinel; her daughter, Leadell Baca and her husband, Bryan, of Clinton; and a nephew who was like a son, Perry Matz and his wife, Debbie, of Clinton. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Tayler Hartman and her husband, Matt; Briley Baca and his wife, Kaci; Sarah Foster; Chizum Peck and Katie; Brandy Pool Litsch and her husband, Jimmie; Lori Morton and her husband, Tyson; and Tyler Peck and his wife, Aubrey. Additionally, she is survived by 14 great-grandchildren: Timber, Jack, Ben, Sy, Treylon, Trew, Spade, McClayne, Oakley, Trenton, Shae, Chase, Leah, and Vivian.
Charleens funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the First Christian Church in Clinton, with Doyle Kinney and Jeff Johnson officiating, and under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home, a private family burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Women’s Fellowship at the First Christian Church or to the Center Point Cemetery Fund.
Charleen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched many lives with her kindness and unwavering devotion to family. She will be dearly missed.
