Funeral services will be held for Betty Denney, 84, of Clinton, at 4 p.m. today in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel in Clinton.

She died Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Betty Susan (Miller) Denney was born Jan. 19, 1935, to Clifford and Tina Mea (Graves) Miller in Custer City and was raised on the family farm north of Custer. She attended Custer City School, graduating in 1954, and furthered her education at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha.

After residing in Oklahoma City for many years she returned to Clinton, where she made her home.

Denney worked at Custer City School, the Clinton Veterans Center, and finished her working career as an in-home caregiver for many longtime friends.

She loved the outdoors, fishing, horses, and gardening. She was a great candy-maker and loved to cook. She loved spending time with her grandsons and watching them rope and play sports.

Denney was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James (Jack) A. Miller and Samuel (Sam) Miller; and two sisters, Emma Lou Hanna and Dorthie Jackson.

Survivors include a son, John Scott Denney and wife Caren Denney of Clinton; one brother, Joe Miller of Newcastle; one sister, Abbie Schoonmaker of Benbrook, Texas; two grandsons, Brady Denney and Dalton Denney of Clinton; and one great-granddaughter.

A private burial will be held at Custer City Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
