KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — An ignitable cake burns away a Kansas City Chiefs logo to reveal pop superstar Taylor Swift‘s image underneath. Prayer candles feature the Grammy winner and her star tight end boyfriend Travis Kelce. Sweatshirts are emblazoned with “Kelce’s Best Catch” and “Go Kansas City Swiftie.”

Schools maintain AEDs

New movements regarding out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) have ignited businesses, school systems and other organizations into action to become more proactive by preparing their occupants with the first response training necessary for a cardiac event.

City Council condemns properties

During their Tuesday night meeting, Clinton City Council members unanimously voted to condemn properties allegedly deemed harmful to the general public by officials. Property owner Don Lacy was present to address prior complaints made by Clinton resident Kent Dewees about the poor condition of the properties. Lacy was also notified about abatement procedures filed by Code Enforcer/Building Inspector Toby Anders for 405½ S. 10th St., 405 S. 10th St. and 407 S. 10th St.

Arapaho-Butler plans February events

Arapaho-Butler Elementary is hosting a Pancake Supper and a Literacy Fair from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 20, which will occur alongside a week-long book fair running from Feb. 19-23. Principal Brad Southall said the supper is an annual event at A-B schools since before he became elementary principal. The addition of a literacy and book fair are welcome additions, said Southall, as all of the proceeds from the event go toward the Teacher’s Classroom Fund. The Pancake Supper will be open to the entire community and free of charge, but there will be a donation box present at the door for those that choose to support the school. Southall said they will serve pancakes, sausage, water, tea and – of course – milk.
