(AP) – A fact-finding commission of the Episcopal Church will research the history of the denomination’s role in operating boarding schools for Native American children -- part of a system the church now acknowledges was rooted in white supremacy and caused generations of trauma.

Work will begin wrapping up soon on the $7.5-million Washita River Bridge project on Gary Boulevard located less than a mile east of U.S. Highway 183 near Glenn Smith Road, according to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The project which began in April of 2021 included the installation of a new bridge as well as the addition of new pavement, sidewalks and lighting in the area.
