Former CHS teacher dies in murder-suicide

According to the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, former longtime Clinton educator Sally Nan Smith, 66, of Canton, Texas, was shot and killed by her husband, Paul Smith, 72, before he apparently took his own life earlier this month.

County Fair livestock winners announced

The Custer County Free Fair took place over the weekend with livestock shows filling Friday morning. Results for the cattle show, swine show and goat show included winners of Best in Show, Grand Champion and Reserve Champion as well as best overall school group.

The City of Clinton is working to secure a new grant which will help with the rehabilitation of the Clinton Lake Dam. While officials are still early in the application process, they hope to complete much needed projects at the dam to keep it functioning for years to come.
