Between wildfires, regular maintenance, and administrative tasks, the Custer County commissioners had a particularly busy past week, as reported at Monday’s meeting at the courthouse.
February was National Children’s Dental Health Month and Western Technology Center’s Dental Assisting program devoted Fridays in February to “Give Kids a Smile,” a special dental screening outreach program made possible through a grant with the Delta Dental Foundation. Dental Assisting Instructor Kelly Pease, Clinton Public School Nurses Sheffield Southall and Jamie Goodwin, and local dentists make this outreach happen each year for Clinton Public Schools.

As a 100% volunteer organization, the Arapaho Fire Department is built on community support and depends on dedicated individuals. “We all have daily full-time jobs, and as we get toned, we all leave those jobs to come and protect the community,” said Chief David Weaver. “Arapaho remains committed to protecting the life, property, and wellbeing of the citizens of Arapaho and the community.”

Legislation aimed at protecting Oklahoma students from the dangers of fentanyl has been signed into law by Gov. Kevin Stitt.
The Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribes EMS plays a bit of a unique role in the community. “We are tribal. We do 911 calls, we also do interfacility calls,” said Executive Director Ann Ashcraft.
