(AP) — A West Virginia couple received the maximum sentences of decades in prison Wednesday for abusing their adoptive children, which included heavy labor, locking them in bedrooms, forcing some to sleep on concrete floors and making them stand for hours with their hands on their heads.

At 10:50 a.m. Tuesday at 1709 S. U.S. Highway 183, an Oklahoma Department of Transportation truck rearended a semi-truck carrying wood pallets causing the semi to flip over on its side, narrowly missing gas pumps at the Domino C-Store, the Clinton Fire Department reported. CFD also said both drivers were out of their vehicles when they arrived and had no major injuries.
