The Clinton Fire Department continues to aid the community, even with many businesses, schools and social festivities shut down due to COVID-19 (the coronavirus).
At a meeting of the Oklahoma State Board of Education during the last full week of March, it was decided that all school facilities in Oklahoma would be closed and all extracurricular activities would be cancelled until June 30, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Clinton High School Principal Paula Harp said the cancellation of activities is especially heartbreaking for seniors, but plans are in the works to make sure the Class of 2020 is recognized in some way.
Clinton Public Schools and Arapaho-Butler Schools began distance learning programs on April 6 as directed by State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister, but private schools have been able to set their own schedules. Western Oklahoma Christian School and Corn Bible Academy started their distance learning programs at least one week earlier than public schools, and each are reporting good results so far.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health announced Tuesday that more than 11,000 negative COVID-19 tests were processed by private labs dating back to February.
