Two candidates for Custer County offices are having their candidacy contested at 10 a.m.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health has reported there are now seven confirmed coronavirus cases in Custer County.

City leaders have long stressed the importance of shopping locally, as a means of strengthening Clinton’s economy. That message is more important than ever, said Clinton director of economic development Roland Mower, and he hopes residents will keep it in mind as they begin to receive their COVID-19 stimulus package checks.

Nursing staff at the Custer County Health Departments conducted 62 COVID-19 tests last week during its first full week of drive-thru testing. Curbside testing in the Clinton and Weatherford offices began Monday afternoon, April 6, and will continue for approximately two and one-half hours a day, Monday through Friday, regardless of weather.

The candidate filing period closed Friday for open seats in upcoming Custer County elections and for the Oklahoma State House of Representatives District 57 seat. Following the Nov. 3 election, for the first time in decades the person holding the District 57 seat will be from Clinton, as the only two individuals to file their candidacy for the spot were Clinton attorneys Juan Garcia (D) and Anthony Moore (R).
A woman was arrested March 26 for a disturbance in the 1700 block of Wells Avenue. Jacee Harrel, 21, of Custer County was taken into custody on charges of assault and battery of an officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
